Happy New Year!!! We woke up at 6 plus this morning, before the sun rise, we were out at NTUC@JEM, Jurong East. Groceries shopping seem to have some therapeutic effect for me, especially when the mall is still half awaken, without its usual throngs of crowd. I totally enjoy and appreciate the serenity while shopping for fresh produce and groceries.

Sales all year round, we Singaporeans are spoilt, really....

The shops are not opened, we had the (whole) mall to ourselves:)
Today's lunch will be pineapple rice. I omitted the word "fried" because I am not going to fry the rice (that's what hawkers and restaurants do it, supposed to be the gold standard), No, I just want to keep things simple, I will cook everything in the rice cooker, and serve in a pineapple "bowl".

I like to keep cooking simple as far as possible, here I used pineapple (from the fresh fruit), mixed frozen vegetable, prawns and mushroom and brown rice. I did not use store bought marinade, instead I just used oyster sauce, soy sauce, sesame oil, some pepper and salt, and cook in a rice cooker.

The taste was good enough for our palette, even though it lacks the "wok hei", meaning the fragrance when fried with more oil in a big wok. But then, this is how I intend it to be - less oil, less seasoning home-cooked food.
