A jog in the garden........... and fond memories

Recently my girl requested to go "practice" jogging for her school annual cross country event. So we spent a few weekend evenings jogging together.

It is always a great jog at Jurong lake, home to the Chinese Garden and Japanese Garden.Usually we start our jog in the mid-evening when it is not too hot and there is always nice things to see along the way.

As usual we like to take photos of this and that for memories' sake.







The Pagoda brings back memories of my younger days. When I was little, I lived in Malaysia. Once, my family came to holiday in Singapore, and we visited the Chinese Garden. I remember the same spots where my mom, my sister and I posed for photos, more than 30 years ago. The Pagoda was one of these spots.

These following 4 pairs of photos are those taken many years ago (in 1982, to be exact) and taken recently. The place looks very much the same as decades ago although the trees are definitely bigger, and older now:)

Lin Da Ma Thunder Tea Rice (林大妈 擂茶）

I recently came across this stall at Holland Drive Market and Food Centre which sells Thunder Tea Rice. Thunder Tea Rice has a long history from China and the main ingredients are various types of vegetables, and a soup which comprises of tea leaves and some unique herbs and ingredients being pounded into a paste and mixed with boiling water.

Being a vegetable lover, I can't have enough of Thunder Tea Rice.

There are many versions of Thunder Tea Rice available. I like to try out any one which I come across at different stalls, as Thunder Tea Rice is not considered widely available in every food centre in Singapore.

This stall sells the white rice set at $4.00 and brown rice set at $4.50, comes in 2 lovely takeaway bowls.

High tea @ The Landing Point Fullerton

This birthday treat was given by my little sister (well..... not so little anymore😃). Oh yes! a not-so-often opportunity to enjoy the delicacies of a high tea, especially at one of the exquisite venues in the city. But, oh no! Piling on more calories than I should😢





A little "bite" on history:

The construction of Collyer Quay was completed in 1864 and was named after Captain George Chancellor Collyer. It stretches from the junction of Fullerton Road/ Battery Road to D'Almeida Street. It was construction to replace the sand beach along the same stretch to served as a landing point for unloading of goods coming into Singapore in the olden days. 

2017 Chinese New Year Celebration part 4 (KL restaurant)

On the 2nd day of Chinese New Year, we went for dinner at a popular restaurant around the neighborhood.

The food was yummy! However, there was simply too much food and we could not finish everything, so some of the food was packed and brought home instead.
