2017 Chinese New Year Part 3 (KL home celebration)

We had a great Chinese New Year celebration. Great not because it was grand and full of happenings, but great because I got the chance to spend it with my dearest grandma, aunts and cousins in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, after more than what seems like 10, 15 years after moving to Singapore. (okay, I do visit them, but for the past years, not during this special Chinese festive season)

The kids had fun too, as they got to play fireworks (the sparkling sticks) the whole night.

Food - both home cooked and restaurant - was great too.

Beautiful table set up by cousins and sister. This was the humble yet tasty home prepared meal on the first day of CNY

Black fungus cooked with cabbage, simple yet tasty.

Stir-fried mung bean vermicelli

Now these are the stuff we do not usually eat, these are mock meat in various versions - "roast chicken", "char siew (roast meat)", "pig-intestine", etc.

Rendang chicken - spicy and yummy

Just a simple vegetable dish

Braised pig trotter
